Great Christian Books |
Below
are some of the best books that I've read since becoming a Christian. I
give a brief summary of the contents of each book.
- In Light Of Eternity by Randy Alcorn
This covers everything you want to know about what the Bible says about heaven. It's not a big book, so it's a quick read. I think I'm on my seventh copy, since I keep giving it away! The older I get, the more I'm interested in heaven because it's where I'll be spending eternity.
- The
Islamic Invasion by Dr. Robert Morey
This
a must read for information about Islam, especially after the World Trade
Center and Pentagon attacks by militant muslims. Everyone should know something
about the violent nature of Islam, and this is the first book I recommend.
Very easy reading.
- Scientific
Creationism by Henry Morris
This
is the bible of scientific creationist books. Morris did an awesome job
in this book of documenting the solid evidence supporting creationism.
If you only want to own one book on the subject, get this one!
- Beyond
Mormonism by James Spencer
This is the
story of a man who was lured into Mormonism by two Mormon missionaries,
and who later became an elder in the LDS church. The book tells of his
struggles with Mormonism and the Bible and how he came to know Jesus and
leave the Mormon church, despite the opposition of his Mormon wife and
friends. An awesome tale.
- Gehenna by
Paul Thigpen
"Nearly
seven hundred years ago the Italian poet Dante wrote The Inferno,
an epic tale of the fate awaiting doomed souls in the underworld. Now the
story continues......" Thomas has died and is now in hell. But he's not
quite dead, and there may yet be a way out. But he'll have to travel down
to the bottom of hell for any chance of escape. This is a much-improved
modern-day version of Dante's Inferno. This sobering book is replete with
demons with chain-saws, the "hoarders vs. the wasters", the giants of Gen.
6:4 chained in the ice, and more. It's my all-time favorite Christian novel.
- The Answers Book vol. 1-4 by Ken Ham
Ken
Ham, one of the world's foremost creationists, answers 12 of the most common
questions asked of Christians today regarding Genesis and science.
-Fox's
Book of Martyrs
This
book has been around for hundreds of years, and it's still a classic. Read
of the faith of the early Christians as they proclaimed Jesus as Lord under
persecution, torture and death. Their astounding faith in God should serve
as an inspiration to us today.
-God's
Smuggler by Brother Andrew
This
is the story of one man's vision of putting Bibles into the hands of believers
in the countries behind the Iron Curtain during the Cold War. Read of the
harrowing escapes and miraculous interventions in the life of this bold
man of God.
-Pro-Life
Answers To Pro-Choice Arguments by
Randy Alcorn
This
is, in my opinion, the best book dealing with abortion in the bookstores
today. Alcorn takes the best arguments from the proabortion position, then
he doesn't just refute their arguments, but answers them several different
ways! He uses excellent examples and accounts in his rebuttals, which
makes his book easy reading.
-Creation
And Time by Van Bebber and Taylor
This
book is a rebuttal to the book with the same name by Dr. Hugh Ross, who
is a theistic evolutionist and director of the ministry Reasons To Believe.
Bebber and Taylor defend a young earth from Scripture, taking the arguments
Ross uses to allegedly support evolution and shows how they, in fact, support
a six-day creation. There's no way that I, as a Christian, can ever believe
in evolution now after having read this book.
-A
Skeleton In God's Closet by Paul Maier
Archaeologists
on a dig in Israel make a shattering discovery - Jesus' bones have apparently
been found! Rock-solid evidence accompanies the discovery without any evidence
of a hoax. This work of fiction by Maier is intensely riveting, and I really
wondered how the story would end in the face of the supposed indisputable
evidence. You'll stay up all night reading this one.
-Reasoning
From The Scriptures With The Jehovah's Witnesses by
Ron Rhodes
Rhodes
takes the favorite texts used by the Jehovah's Witnesses and shows how
a Christian can respond to them accurately. Rhodes takes a text that they
use,
puts what they say about it, then he states what the Bible
actually
says. It's a great way to learn how to defend your faith, as well as a
way to learn sound biblical doctrine.
